If you struggle with the cold weather blues, here’s something that may boost your mood: It’s officially the start of Girl Scout Cookie season. You won't have to wait much longer (if at all) for your favorite cookies—just check the Cookie Finder app to see when troops in your area start selling. Every January through April, we look forward to buying and eating our way through a haul of these iconic sweet treats, and this year The Girl Scouts of the USA (GSUSA) have baked up a couple of exciting new ideas… including one of their most craveable cookies yet.

What’s the New Girl Scout Cookie this Year?

The latest and greatest to come out of the Girl Scouts test kitchen is the Adventurefuls™ cookie. It’s an indulgent combination of a brownie-like base, caramel-flavored crème, and a pop of sea salt. We’re thinking that these are going to be a big hit for fans of salted caramel anything.

You can browse the full list of Girl Scout Cookies available in 2022 at their website, where you can also find information about the bakers as well as nutrition information. (There are two different bakers, ABC Bakers and Little Brownie Bakers; who makes your cookies depends on where you live!) There are 12 cookies in total, and all of our favorite classics are there—we can’t imagine a year without Thin Mints® or Caramel deLites®—but there are also some lesser-known varieties worth trying.

For example, did you know that The Girl Scouts offer two gluten-free cookie options? The buttery, rich Toffee-tastic, and a caramel-studded chocolate chipper are both GF. We’re also impressed at the variety of vegan options available: Thin Mints, Peanut Butter Patties, Lemonades, and Toast-Yay! (an icing-dipped, French toast-inspired cookie) are all free from animal products.

Where Can You Buy Girl Scout Cookies?

The pandemic has changed how we buy Girl Scout Cookies—door-to-door and in-person selling isn’t as popular—but the best way to place an order is still through a Girl Scout you know. Many Girl Scout cookie-preneurs offer online selling platforms, and can take payments digitally.

However, if you don’t have a Girl Scout on speed dial, you can still get your cookie fix. GSUSA announced that this year, they’re partnering with DoorDash to offer an on-demand cookie experience. You can search for “Girl Scouts” on the DoorDash app, and place your order for either delivery or pickup at a nearby booth. GSUSA will keep the Scouts at the forefront of the operation: The Girl Scouts will work with DoorDash to track and full orders, as well as manage their inventory—so it’s still a great learning experience for them.

You can also text the word COOKIES to the number 59618 for up-to-date news on ordering and deliveries, and beginning February 18, you can enter your zip code into a cookie finder at the GSUSA website to be connected with local troops.

Of course, if you simply can’t wait for Girl Scout Cookie season to begin, you can get a jump start on the sweetest time of year by making your own. These 10 recipes for copycat Girl Scout Cookies will satisfy your craving and keep you occupied during the winter doldrums. Just be sure to save some room for your order of the new Adventurefuls™!
