What is it about celebrities posting their food on social media that’s so fascinating? When I saw that Hailey Bieber posted a TikTok of her Pizza Toast, I was immediately curious to see what kind of culinary creations are going down in the Bieber household. Was this the dish that inspired the hit single “Yummy"? Well, there’s only one way to find out, so I did what any responsible journalist would do and I tried it out for myself.

How to Make Hailey Bieber's Pizza Toast

To make this pizza toast, Bieber starts by buttering both sides of a slice of sourdough and drizzling it with truffle oil. Then, she toasts both sides of bread (she uses a griddle, but any cast iron pan or skillet would work) until golden brown. Once the bread is toasted, she tops it with a generous layer of burrata cheese.

She also marinates a few tomato slices in olive oil, fresh lemon juice, and salt. She then tops the burrata cheese with a slice of her marinated tomatoes and another drizzle of truffle oil. She puts the toasts on a cooling rack set over a baking sheet and bakes in a 375F oven. Once the burrata is mostly melted, she finishes it all off with freshly grated Parmesan, warmed marinara sauce, dried oregano, and red pepper flakes.

My Review of Hailey Bieber's Pizza Toast

I mean, it doesn’t take a genius to acknowledge that bread, cheese, and tomatoes will always be a great idea. Frankly, it would be more impressive if Hailey Bieber somehow managed to make these ingredients taste bad as opposed to how they actually tasted, which was, of course, delightful. These pizza toasts are the ultimate comfort food and an easy snack that I would happily eat every day.

I will admit that I didn’t use truffle oil on mine because I cannot fathom spending $25 for an 8 ounce bottle of liquid that I will never remember to use up. However, I did happen to have a dusty bottle of basil-infused oil sitting in the back of my cupboard that I used instead which was quite delicious. I have no doubt that a couple drizzles of truffle oil will probably make this toast even more heavenly than it already was, but if you don’t have any truffle oil (or you understandably don’t want to buy it), the toast is totally fine without it.

If I am going to eat burrata cheese, I usually tear it into small chunks and enjoy it cold over a salad or pizza. I like the chilled, creamy interior against the squeaky exterior. However, I really enjoyed how it melted on the bread in this recipe. It maintained its creaminess while still offering a bit of crispy, melty cheese action. If you can’t find burrata, fresh mozzarella would be an easy substitute. She also uses Carbone’s branded marinara sauce, but I couldn’t find that in my local store. Luckily, my trusted store brand did the trick.

Because the toasted bread is baked with the wet (sorry) burrata cheese, the toast did lose some of its crunchiness after going in the oven. I didn’t mind that the bread had softened slightly, but if you want a really crispy toast, then I would recommend picking a lower moisture cheese, like shredded mozzarella, and melting it on the bread while it’s still in the skillet.

I am all about the garnishes and I have to say that Mrs. Bieber really nailed hers. If I ever ran for office, my one and only platform would be that freshly grated Parm, dried oregano, and red pepper flakes should make their way onto every slice of pizza. I think I would get a lot of votes with this outlook. She could have just done the warm marinara, but I thought the marinated, fresh tomato slice was a nice visual touch, plus it tasted great.

Final Verdict: Justin Bieber famously sang “stay in the kitchen cookin' up, got your own bread,” and I think it’s pretty safe to assume he’s talking about Hailey here because this pizza toast is an absolute banger.
